Iranian short ‘The Elephant’s Shadow’ by Arman Khansarian has been selected to compete at the 23rd edition of REGARD – Saguenay International Short Film Festival- in Canada.
This is the first time that the short competes at an international festival. The 22-minute film, produced by Iranian Youth Cinema Society, is Khansarian’s fifth short film.
The short is the story of a young woman named Leila whose father is sick. According to his doctors, Leila’s father has only a few days left to live. His only concern is for Leila’s welfare as he knows how difficult life can be for a divorcee in Tehran. Leila plans a scenario to let her father die peacefully.
REGARD is one of the most important short film festivals in North America. It is also one of the festivals which provide access to the OSCAR award for the short film.
The 23rd edition of the event will be held on March 13-17, 2019, in Quebec.
